Safety Guidelines

Simple steps to help every Minama meetup and exchange stay safe, respectful, and predictable.

Last updated: November 28, 2025

Meetup Best Practices

  • Meet in public, well-lit locations on or near campus. Avoid private residences whenever possible.
  • Bring a friend for high-value exchanges and let someone know when and where you are meeting.
  • Inspect items carefully before completing the exchange and confirm all details in the app.
  • Keep payments secure. Use cash or the in-app flow you agreed on—never wire money or share banking PINs.

Communication and Verification

Keep messages inside Minama so our team can assist if something feels off. Only share the personal details necessary to coordinate your meetup. If someone pressures you to move to another messaging app, requests upfront payments, or asks for sensitive information, pause the conversation and report it.

Fraud and Scam Prevention

  • Beware of offers that seem too good to be true or requests to overpay and refund the difference.
  • Never share verification codes, passwords, or student IDs in chat. Minama staff will never ask for them.
  • Decline requests to ship items unless both parties explicitly agree to shipping terms in writing.
  • Use clear photos and keep a record of conversations about item condition, pricing, and pickup timing.

Emergencies and Reporting

If you ever feel unsafe, leave immediately and contact campus security or local authorities. Afterward, report the issue to support@minama.jp with screenshots or details so we can investigate, suspend accounts when appropriate, and help protect other students.

Wellbeing and Respect

Everyone on Minama deserves respect. Harassment, discrimination, or unwanted contact is prohibited. If a user behaves inappropriately, block them and report the conversation. We will take action consistent with our community guidelines and terms of service.
